DAY 12 - MONDAY JUNE 22nd
Massive day for Neil Mullen who had been faltering, with 8 points from his last seven predictions heading into France vs Iraq. Two spot-ons and a correct margin since, that's 13 points in Neil's last three. Roisin Guargena took just 5 points from those three... Neil is now 9 points clear. Not just that, there is then a further 5 point gap between Roisin and 3rd where Mike Fischer is up four places. Good day for Stephen Wraige too, up five in 4th.
A daily total of 15 for Neil is not the best though - our Manager of the Day is Robert Metzger with 17 points. 3 each for Argentina vs Austria and France vs Iraq, 6 points for Norway 3 Senegal 2 and 5 points for Jordan 1 Algeria 2. Robert halves his league position from 52nd to 26th. Got to mention my boy, Oliver Willingham, who'd been going along steadily, gradually ascending the 30s then 20s, and hit the accelerator today. 15 points sees Oliver up 12 places to 11th.

JORDAN 1 ALGERIA 2
17 predicted Algeria would win 1-2 for 5 points, 25 take 3 points and 29 earn 2. Back on form with a vengeance, Neil Mullen hits his 10th correct score of the competition - that's three more than anyone else! The gap at the top of the league that was 1 point before France vs Iraq is now a huge 9 points.
|
NORWAY 3 SENEGAL 2
Five got this one spot-on, making it worth 6 points. 37 take 3 points for the correct margin, a further 26 gain 2. Oliver Willingham is the highest with the correct score and is up to 12th. Neil Mullen had 2-1 and takes 3 points. With Roisin Guargena scoring zero Neil's lead is up to 7 points.

FRANCE 3 IRAQ 0
Four points in his last four predictions, 8 points from his last seven. Just when you think Neil Mullen is on a slippery slope he pulls out his ninth correct score of this World Cup. Yes, ninth, that's two more than anyone else and four more than nearest rival Roisin Guargena. That 1 point gap is back up to 4. Meanwhile it's half-time in Norway vs Senegal and 1-0... long way to go but if that stays as it is, Neil goes 7 points clear. And if Norway go on to win 2-1 the rest of us may as well give up. Neil is one of only two in the top seven to have predicted a Norway win. Although that said, Callum Cooper in 5th is on 2-1, as are all the teams from 8th place to 12th...
|
ARGENTINA 2 AUSTRIA 0
Last minute change of luck again, Argentina's second goal robbing three managers of 6 points and handing 5 to 25 who were set to collect 2 points. 28 others pick up 3 points, 67 have to make do with 2. Neil Mullen was on for 3 having predicted 2-1 and ends with 2 while the three nearest challengers all do the opposite - 3 points for Roisin Guargena, Jeff Norton and Callum Cooper. Roisin is now back to just 1 point behind Neil. Stephen Wraige and John Guargena are the highest that were on the 2-0 and climb four places to 5th and 6th.
