UPDATES JUNE 26th - JULY 3rd
I'm on holiday now, so apologies... updates may be a bit less timely even during 'normal UK hours', and will certainly be less detailed until back home on July 4th.

DAY 18 - SUNDAY JUNE 28th
|
SOUTH AFRICA 0 CANADA 1
Another injury time goal broke some hearts - particularly the two that had predicted 0-0 in 90 minutes for this one. With some managers seeming to have been caught out by the quick turnover from Group Stage to Knockout Stage, only four were on the 0-1 win for Canada, making it worth 6 points. No less than eight randoms threw up the goalless draw, so we have 12 teams level on 6 points at the end of the opening day of our Knockout Stage League.
The highest placed of those in the Overall League is Ryan Keenan, who has a dream start to the second 'half' of the competition. While Ryan collected his 6 points, the three teams above totaled -2 between them. Ryan is up to 2nd, 4 points behind Neil Mullen, already 5 ahead of Mike Fischer.

GROUP STAGE WORLD CHAMPION - NEIL MULLEN
Congratulations to Neil Mullen who wins the Predict the Scores World Cup Group Stage. Well deserved from Neil, who's been top for much of the competition since Day 5. At one stage 10 points clear, Neil had to work hard for the trophy towards the end. In fact, after the earlier two games on final day, Mike Fischer had moved 2 points ahead. That was reversed after the second pair of games, with Mike predicting a win for Uzbekistan for -2. Neil left no doubt with his 12th correct score coming for Jordan 1 Argentina 3, to finish 7 points ahead. A disappointing finish for Mike, 8 points on the day was the lowest of the top eight (as started the day).
Neil Mullen of course takes the Group Stage trophy for the MN friends & family League. Congratulations to all our other Mini League winners... Niall MacKenzie, Oliver Willingham, Richard Bounds, Michael Rajkumar, Robert Metzger, Mike Fischer, Richard Hancy, Anne Noble and Paul Taylor.
